Non-metallic fabric compensator

A non-metallic fabric compensator, also known as a non-metallic expansion joint or fabric expansion joint, is a device used to absorb axial, lateral, and angular displacements in a piping system due to thermal expansion and contraction, vibration, or structural displacement. It is mainly used in pipeline systems of high temperature, high pressure and corrosive media, such as flue, air duct, gas pipeline and powder conveying system in chemical industry, electric power, petroleum, metallurgy, cement and other industries.

Construction and Materials

The non-metallic fabric compensator is mainly composed of multiple layers of non-metallic materials with different functions, including but not limited to:

  • High temperature resistant material: Such as aluminum silicate, ceramic fiber, used to withstand high temperature environment.

  • Sealing material: Such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), silicone rubber, used to maintain good sealing.

  • Reinforcement material: such as glass fiber, Kevlar fiber, to enhance the structural strength of the compensator.

  • Protective material: such as PTFE-coated fiberglass cloth, providing additional protection against abrasion and environmental erosion.

Working Principle

The non-metallic fabric compensator can absorb the displacement in the pipeline system through its characteristic softness and elasticity, thus reducing the stress on the pipeline and equipment and avoiding the damage of the pipeline system due to displacement. Moreover, it also has good sound insulation and vibration damping effects, capable of reducing the noise level and vibration transmission of the plumbing system.
