FAQ

What are the scopes of use of various compensators

Compensators (also known as expansion joints) are used to absorb displacement of the piping system due to temperature changes, vibration, or motion to prevent stress damage to the piping and connecting equipment. Different types of compensators are suitable for different operating conditions and environments, and here is an overview of the scope of use for some of the main compensator types:

  1. bellows compensator

  • Metal bellows compensator: It is suitable for steam, gas and liquid pipelines in high temperature and high pressure environments, such as electric power, petrochemical, chemical industry, metallurgy and other industries.

  • Non-metallic bellows compensator: Used in low and medium temperature and low pressure environments, such as air and flue gas ducts in ventilation, dust removal and smoke exhaust systems.

  • Socket compensator

    • Suitable for straight pipes, it can absorb axial displacement, and is commonly found in hot water, steam, and hot oil piping systems.

  • Rotary compensator

    • Through rotation to absorb the axial displacement of the pipeline, it is suitable for long-distance, large-diameter pipeline systems, such as heat network, urban heating pipeline.

  • Spherical compensator

    • It can absorb the angular displacement of pipelines, and is suitable for pipeline systems that need angular compensation, such as bends, tees and other parts.

  • Universal compensator

    • Provides multi-directional displacement compensation, suitable for pipeline systems with complex layout, such as pipeline networks of chemical plants, power plants.

  • Pressure balance compensator

    • It is used to eliminate the thrust generated by internal pressure and reduce the load on the pipe fixing bracket. It is suitable for high pressure pipeline system.

  • hinged compensator

    • For absorbing angular displacement, usually in conjunction with one or two pairs of limit bars, suitable for piping systems requiring angular compensation.

  • Rubber joint

    • For absorbing vibrations and small displacements, it is suitable for water, sewage, air and inert gas pipelines, especially where shock absorption and noise control are required.

  • PTFE-lined compensator

    • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating inside, suitable for piping systems with highly corrosive media.

  • Pulverized Coal Pipeline Compensator

    • Specially designed for pulverized coal conveying systems, it can prevent dust leakage, and is suitable for powder conveying pipelines in coal-fired power plants.

  • High temperature compensator

    • Specially designed for high temperature environments, such as high temperature flue gas or steam pipelines in thermal power generation, petrochemical, metallurgy and other industries.

  • cryogenic compensator

    • It is suitable for low or very low temperature environments, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen pipeline systems.

The design and materials of each compensator are designed to meet specific working conditions. Selecting the appropriate compensator type needs to consider factors such as operating temperature, pressure, medium characteristics, displacement type and space constraints of the pipeline system.
