Axial external pressure corrugated compensator

The Axial External Pressure Corrugated Compensator is a special type of corrugated compensator designed to absorb axial displacement in piping systems. This compensator is subjected to axial tension or compression of the bellows when subjected to external pressure. The features and advantages of the axial external pressure corrugated compensator include:

  1. Large compensation amount: It can absorb large axial displacement and is suitable for long-distance pipeline systems.

  2. Thermal insulation performance: Because of its special structure, this compensator performs better in terms of heat preservation, and is suitable for piping systems that need heat preservation.

  3. Media discharge: Axial external pressure corrugated compensators are usually designed with drainage ports, which can eliminate residual media and avoid the accumulation of media in the bellows.

Installation Considerations

  • Direction of hydrophobic port: When installing, make sure the drainage opening is facing down to facilitate the drainage of condensate or other accumulated liquids.

  • Removing tie rod: After the site installation is completed, the tie rod used to maintain the shape of the bellows during transportation and installation shall be removed as directed by the manufacturer, allowing the compensator to expand and contract freely.

  • Hydraulic test: When performing hydraulic test, it is necessary to reinforce the secondary fixed pipe frame equipped with the end of the compensator pipeline to prevent the pipeline from moving or rotating. For gaseous medium compensators, temporary supports may be required when filling with water.

  • Water quality requirements: The chloride ion content of water used for hydraulic test should not exceed 25ppm to prevent corrosion of bellows.

  • Drain Dry: After the hydraulic test, the accumulated water in the bellows should be discharged as soon as possible, and the inner surface of the bellows should be blown dry to prevent rust.

  • Guidance and Fixation: Ensure that the guidance and fixation of the compensator meet the design requirements and avoid the bellows from being subjected to lateral or angular stresses.

  • Neutral: Make sure the pipe is well-neutralized and avoid unnecessary stress transfer to the compensator.

  • Avoid getting stuck: All moving components of the compensator must not be stuck or restricted by external components, so as to ensure the normal movement of all moving parts.

Use and Maintenance

  • Periodic inspection: Check the operating status of the compensator regularly to ensure that the bellows is not damaged or leaking.

  • Cleaning and maintenance: Remove dirt and foreign matter inside and outside the bellows, and perform necessary maintenance and maintenance regularly.

  • Recording and Monitoring: Record the operating status and maintenance history of the compensator for failure analysis and predictive maintenance.

Axial external pressure corrugated compensator needs to pay special attention to the above matters when installing and using to ensure its long-term stable operation and the safety of pipeline system.
