Lithium battery pipe expansion joint

The production process of lithium batteries involves a variety of chemicals and solvents, as well as high temperature and high pressure process conditions. Under these conditions, the pipeline system will generate displacement and stress due to thermal expansion and contraction, vibration, pressure fluctuation, etc. In order to protect the pipeline system and connecting equipment from leakage and damage, the use of pipeline expansion joints is required, and especially for the special requirements of lithium battery production environments, expansion joints specifically designed for such applications are used.

In the lithium battery industry, applications of pipe expansion joints include:

  1. Chemical delivery pipeline

  • Pipelines used to transport electrolyte, solvents, lithium salts and other chemicals need to be able to adapt to changes in temperature and pressure.

  • Waste liquid treatment system

    • The waste liquid generated in the production of lithium batteries needs to be treated, and the expansion joint can absorb the thermal expansion, contraction and vibration of the pipes in the treatment system, ensuring the stable operation and sealing performance of the system.

  • Drying and Purification Systems

    • Drying tower, purifier and other equipment connected pipeline, expansion joint can absorb the vibration and displacement generated when the equipment is running.

  • Heating and cooling systems

    • During the production of lithium batteries, heating and cooling cycles cause pipes to thermally expand and contract, and expansion joints can compensate for these changes, reducing stress on pipes and equipment.

  • Ventilation and Exhaust Systems

    • Ventilation and exhaust ducts involved in lithium battery production, expansion joints can absorb the displacement of the ducts due to temperature changes.

The material selection and design of lithium battery pipe expansion joints need to consider the following factors:

    • Chemical resistance: The expansion joint material must be resistant to corrosion by chemicals used in the production of lithium batteries.

    • Temperature resistance: The expansion joint needs to withstand the high and low temperatures during the production of lithium batteries.

    • Sealability: The expansion joint needs to provide a reliable seal to prevent chemical leakage.

    • flexibility: The expansion joint needs to be flexible enough to absorb the displacement and vibration of the pipe.

    • Durability: The expansion joint should have a long service life and be able to withstand long-term chemical and mechanical loads.

Common types of lithium battery pipe expansion joints include metal bellows expansion joints and non-metal expansion joints. Metal bellows expansion joints are commonly used in applications requiring higher pressure sealing and temperature stability, while non-metallic expansion joints are suitable for situations requiring higher chemical stability and greater displacement compensation.

When designing and selecting expansion joints for lithium battery pipelines, the working conditions of specific applications, including temperature, pressure, medium type, displacement and direction, should be considered to ensure that the expansion joints can meet the needs of lithium battery production process.
