Installation sequence of non-metallic expansion joint skin

The installation sequence and process of non-metallic expansion joint skin are complex and need to be carefully executed to ensure the proper function and extend the service life of the expansion joint. Here are typical installation steps:

PREPARATION STAGE

  1. Inspection materials

  • Verify the size and quantity of fittings such as skins, frames, platens, bolts, etc.

  • Inspect the skin for damage, such as tears, wear, or contamination.

  • Clean Workspace

    • Clean the expansion joint frame and flange face to remove dust, grease, or other impurities.

    Installation Steps

    1. Assembly Frame

    • Butt join and fully weld the carbon steel frame according to the serial number.

  • Install internal skin cotton

    • Distribute set insulation nails.

    • Install the inner layer of insulation cotton, usually wrapped with stainless steel wire mesh, and then install other layers of insulation cotton in turn, and fix them flat with insulation nails.

  • Laying the skin

    • Place the skin flat on the flange surface of the metal frame to prevent wrinkles.

    • Install the skin from the lower part, make sure that the internal insulation cotton is adequately installed, and spread it out a bit from the lower part in sequence to prevent wrinkles.

  • Tighten the skin

    • Tighten the skin to make sure there is no sagging or wrinkling.

  • Compressed skin

    • Use a platen and bolts to press the skin against the frame.

    • For expansion joints of horizontal flues, the upper interface should be pressed down at the outermost skin interface to prevent water seepage.

  • Fastening bolts

    • Use an electric wrench to tighten all the bolts, making sure each bolt is tightened in place.

    Final inspection

    1. review

    • Verify that the skin is installed correctly, without damage, the bolts are tightened, and the interface is well sealed.

  • Stress test(if applicable):

    • Pressure testing is performed to ensure expansion joint sealing performance.

    Precautions

    • Manufacturer's instruction manual and safety regulations should be followed throughout the installation process.

    • Follow the correct installation sequence to avoid additional stress or damage during installation.

    • Make sure to install in a cold state to avoid additional stress caused by thermal expansion and contraction.

    • Keep the pipe in line with the expansion joint to avoid additional loads due to improper installation.

The installation of non-metallic expansion joints is a meticulous process that requires professional operations to ensure that every link is strictly performed in accordance with standards to achieve the best use effect and safety performance.
